BIG Changes are Coming to MYS!

Hello, everyone... As we enter the final weekend of the Spring season, I'm excited to share news of some big changes we're planning at Marlboro Youth Soccer for the Fall!

New website and registration system

MYS has partnered with AdminSports, a local company which provides similar services to other area soccer clubs (see Sudbury and Hopkinton as examples) and our travel league, BAYS. We'll publish a Fall registration page in the next day or two, with our new club website soon to follow. You'll need to create a new family account when you register for our Fall programs. The AdminSports platform comes with an app for iOS and Android, which will help us improve communication between the club, coaches, and families. See more at https://adminsports.com/app.php.

New In Town program for Grades 3&4

For some families, traveling to 5 or 6 away games on a Saturday is just too difficult. Others may find that their child isn't ready for, or simply doesn't want to play on a highly competitive travel team. Our program is growing, and we want to give all players and coaches a chance to learn the basics before jumping right in to travel league play... For these reasons, we've introduced a new In Town program for grades 3 and 4, where players will be organized into teams of 10-13 players for intramural games on Saturdays.

Grade 3 - Our 3rd Grade program will in In Town only for the Fall season.... This will give all players a chance to learn 7v7 play with goalkeepers before entering BAYS in the Spring.

Grade 4 - 4th Graders can choose between In Town and BAYS/travel teams... Placement on a BAYS/travel team in the Fall will require a tryout (schedule TBD) or coach's evaluation from our current Spring season. Due to the limited number of roster spots available, players not selected for a BAYS/travel team will be assigned to an In Town roster.

You've heard me say before that MYS is run entirely by volunteers... As numbers continue to grow, YOU are the most important part in making our programs available to all! Please consider volunteering with MYS as a coach or assistant, and we'll make sure that you have everything you'll need for a fun and rewarding experience.

Sincerely,

Sportsmanship Message

Good morning, everyone... Just wanted to share a simple message this morning about sportsmanship. All of our travel teams play in the Boston Area Youth Soccer league, or BAYS. Over the last few seasons, BAYS has witnessed an increase in the overall level of hostility and disrespect during some BAYS games. Especially concerning are incidents of racially-charged, offensive, hurtful, and inappropriate language/actions. Marlboro Youth Soccer fully supports BAYS' efforts to improve the game environment by emphasizing RESPECT for each other, our opponents, and the referees.

Marlboro Youth Soccer expects the highest standards of sportsmanship from each of you.

Players, coaches, parents, fans, and officials should be positive and respectful.

Discrimination, criticism, or hurtful comments or actions of any kind have no place here.

Enjoy the game, have fun, and show respect for each other.

Field Status

Updated Friday, 6/9 @ 3:00pm... Grass fields will remain OPEN, but there are thunderstorms in the area. Coaches must adhere to the MA Youth Soccer weather policy (https://www.mayouthsoccer.org/about/weather-policy/). You must clear the field if you see lightning or hear thunder for at least 30 minutes.

Locations Status
Ghiloni Field 1 Open
Ghiloni Field 2 Open
Ghiloni Field 3 Open
Ghiloni Field 4 Open
Ghiloni Field 5 Open
Byrne Open
Korean Vets / Millham Open
Kelleher Open
Whitcomb Turf (Noble) Open

Simple rules of thumb:

  1. The City can close the fields or leave it to the MYS discretion.
  2. If left to MYS:
  • Weekdays - Status is updated on the website by 3pm.
  • Weekends - Early Games - Status is updated by 7am for all games before 12:00 noon.
  • Weekends - Afternoon Games - Status is updated by 10am for all games at or after 12:00 noon.
  1. Coaches and Referees may also cancel events if:
     - the weather turns bad
     - there are puddles / standing water in multiple areas on your field
     - otherwise unsafe conditions.
