Quick Overview

  1. Pre-K
    Combined sessions for boys and girls in pre-school who are 4 years old as of August 31 of the fall/spring soccer year.
     
  2. Kindergarten
    Combined sessions for boys and girls in kindergarten who are 5 years old as of August 31 of the fall/spring soccer year.
     
  3. Grade 1&2
    Separate sessions (by grade) for boys and girls in 1st and 2nd grade who generally are 6 to 7 years old as of August 31st of the fall season.
     
  4. Grade 3&4
    Separate programs (by gender) for boys and girls in 3rd and 4th grade who generally are 8 to 9 years old as of August 31st of the fall season.
     
  5. Grade 5&6
    Separate programs (by gender) for boys and girls in 5th and 6th grade who generally are 10 to 11 years old as of August 31st of the fall season.
     
  6. Grade 7&8
    Separate programs (by gender) for boys and girls in 7th and 8th grade who generally are 12 to 13 years old as of August 31st of the fall season.
     
  7. Grade High School
    Separate or co-ed programs for boys and girls in 9th thru 12th grade who generally are 14 to 18 years old as of August 31st of the fall season.

Pre-K Details
Grouping: Combined sessions for boys and girls in pre-school who are 4 years old as of August 31 of the fall season
Duration: • 8 weeks per season

• Fall programs run from September to November and Spring programs run from April to June

League: This is a non-travel, in-town program
Schedule: One day per week for activities and games 
Games: The format is 3v3 / 4v4 with small size Pugg goals and size 3 ball
Practices:
  • Play Practice Play with small warmup scrimmages, followed by activities, followed by a quick scrimmage.
  • Boston Bolts coaches lead weekly sessions
  • Volunteer parent assistant coaches work with Boston Bolts coaches to support players during the activities and small-sided games
Skills Training: No additional weekly skills training for these grade groups

Equipment:
  • MYS provides all players a Marlboro Youth Soccer t-shirt as part of the registration fee
  • All players must wear their Marlboro Youth Soccer t-shirt each week
  • All players must bring a size 3 ball
  • All players must wear cleats or sneakers (cleats are not required but are recommended)
  • All players must wear shin guards and soccer socks (socks must be worn over shin guards)
  • All players should bring a water bottle
  • Players cannot wear earrings, hats, hooded sweatshirts, jewelry, or other metal on their person

KINDERGARTEN DETAILS

GRADE 1&2
Grouping: Separate sessions (by grade) for boys and girls in 1st and 2nd grade who generally are 6 to 7 years old as of August 31st of the fall season
Duration: • 8 weeks per season

League: This is a non-travel, in-town program with the exception of possible jamborees with nearby towns
Schedule:
  • One Boston Bolts practice/skills clinics per week on assigned weekday (no “team” practices)
  • Small-sided, jamboree format games on Saturday mornings

Timing
  • Boston Bolts practices/skills clinics run for 1 hour on assigned weekdays
  • Small-sided, jamboree format games run for about 1 hour on Saturday mornings (four 12 minute quarters plus breaks)
Games: The format is 3v3 / 4v4 with 6ft Pugg goals and size 3 ball, no goalies, and Boston Bolts coaches facilitating the games with help from volunteer parent assistant coaches
Practices:
  • The first half of group weekly practices/skills clinics focus on training and the second half on small-sided games
  • Boston Bolts coaches lead the group practices/skills clinics with the support of volunteer parent assistant coaches
  • Boston Bolts coaches build upon weekly themes at weekly scrimmages
